# Connect Aider to Void API

Point Aider’s built-in OpenAI-compatible client at Void API.

Examples use MODEL_ID as a placeholder, not an available model. Replace it with an ID from the current catalog. Choose a model that supports the endpoint and features used by this tool; vision and tool calling are not universal.

## Environment

Set the key and compatible API base URL.

### Environment variables

export OPENAI_API_KEY='void_your_key'
export OPENAI_API_BASE='https://void-api.tech/v1'
```

## Run

Prefix the Void API model ID with openai/.

### shell

```
aider --model 'openai/MODEL_ID'
```
